5 ways to improve your DHF productivity

1) Generate a Product Requirement Document in less than 2 minutes
Aligned Elements has a powerful bi-directional integration with Microsoft Word. Once your Design Control Items are in the system, you can simply add them one-by-one or in multi-select mode to any word document using drag-and-drop. Changes made in the document is synchronized back into the database and vice versa. Automatic revision history generation and integrated Trace tables generation speeds up your document generation even further.

2) Gap Analysis using Inconsistency Rules
By inspecting your projects' inconsistencies, you quickly get an overview of the current status. Consequently you can assess where your DHF is weak and where you might need to put in more work. A configurable set of consistency rules can be applied to each document object type and is automatically updated after every modification. Examples of rules are: "Has this object been traced?", "Has this object been reviewed?", "Does this object has open Issues?".

3) "What has been done since last time I logged in?"
Every modification to the Design History File is recorded and logged in Aligned Elements which creates a fine grained Project History. The Project History can be filtered in several ways to simplify searching. The standard filter settings displays the changes made by everybody in the team since last time you logged out giving you a quick assessment of what has been done since your last session.

4) Reuse your DHF content for other Products
If you are working with modular products using combinations of defined sub modules, it makes sense to modularize your DHF documentation accordingly. This will spare you the work of duplicating the module documentation to each product where it is used. Aligned Elements allows you to link "Product"-projects to "Sub module"-projects in a multi layer hierarchy for effective reuse. This will minimize your effort of creating new products based on existing sub components.

5) "Has this new Requirement been added to the PRD?"
Due to the close integration between Word and Aligned Elements, the system can keep track of all objects that have been inserted in Word Documents managed by Aligned Elements. Thus, with minimal effort you can find out which recently created requirement, specification or other object that you have forgotten to insert in the applicable documents or if the objects in your documents have changed since they were inserted.

"Unlike a typical Requirement Solution or Test Suite, Aligned Elements takes its origin in the Design History File and provides adequate support functions for the related documents. So instead of acquiring multiple tools, we realized that Aligned Elements satisfies all the relevant tasks we need support for."
